BU/Plant HR Manager – Electromechanical Division EMEA (m/f)

The newly established Motion Systems Group EMEA consists of seven divisions. The Electromechanical Division (app. 400 people) is headquartered in Offenburg, having two Business Units in place. We are looking for a BU/Plant HR Manager who will be in charge for all HR related subjects in the Offenburg plant and overseas the HR activities in the plants in France, UK and Italy, which are part of the Business Unit. The candidate in a matrix-organization will report solid line to the Division HR Manager, who will be based in Filderstadt. The Business Unit as part of the division employs app. 200 people and produces electromechanical components with a turnover of € 80 mio.
In cooperation with the Division HR Manager the position holder will support the ongoing change process in the Business Unit and supports the management in the plant in all HR-related issues.
Your future role
Reporting to the Division HR Manager and - in a dotted line - to the BU Manager the incumbent plays an important role in execution of the BU/Divisional strategy and in achieving overall business goals. The future position holder will establish a good working relationship to the works council and with the other BU/Divisional staff members as well as with the Group-organization on a regional & global level.
The BU/Plant HR Manager at present has no direct report but will be supported by administrative staff. The position holder concentrates on the HR role at the Offenburg plant and supports his/her HR colleagues in the other European plants.
Being operative and strategic partner of the BU Management in cooperation with Division and Group level is the key role of the position holder. Understanding and involvement in business issues, change management, workforce planning, talent management, skills assessment and recruiting, succession planning, learning and development and day-to-day work with the works council are main activities for the new position holder.
The BU/Plant HR Manager develops a comprehensive HR plan to ensure the business unit achieves the goals concerning: Engaged People, Premier Customer Experience, Profitable Growth and Financial Performance.
He/She works as an active member of the HR HPT to continuously improve what we do and how we do it and support the development of action plans. Support the implementation and development of HPT’s with a focus on driving productivity.
As Change Agent in cooperation with the Division HR Manager and related to corporate goals, the position holder acts as a liaison for leading change, creating understanding among associates about the need to change, and how change will help them and the business in the short and long term, assisting in the modification of systems and structures to support needed change, monitoring progress by developing measures for change and developing long and short term plans to keep attention focused on change.
The incumbent helps to develop further continuous improvement and automation of HR-processes. Payroll processing is centralized and part of the finance organization.
The position holder will build up a trustful relation to the management and employees on shop-floor level to support and advice in all HR related issues, assuring that all employees are able to perform their responsibilities in a timely and competent manner. In an ongoing change-process, the incumbent supports the implementation of corporate lean strategies and group policies. He/she in cooperation with the Division HR Manager elaborates local works council agreements to assure proper performance of work, aligned with Country HR programs, initiatives.
The BU/Plant HR Manager has to make sure that training/HR development activities at the plant are in accordance with established objectives and budgets. In cooperation with the BU-line management he/she initiates and monitors the annual performance assessment and talent development process at the plant as part of the group’s strategic deployment initiative.
The incumbent supports the performance management process helping to ensure that PPP’s and Development Plans are fully utilized. He/She advises line managers on performance management issues.
The future position holder provides line managers with support, guidance (coaching) and clarification on all matters related to people management issues and ensure that a consistent legislative approach is taken in each case
Perform all other duties and project work as assigned by the Div. HR Manager and Group Management.
- The successful candidate preferably has acquired a Master’s Degree in a relevant field. He/She brings along at least first experience in Human Resource Management on plant level preferably gathered in large, complex multinational production environment.
- A previous experience in managing HR projects in various business cycles such as growth, acquisition, new market development and restructuring will facilitate the success of the incumbent in this role. A good understanding of HR related laws and the ability to find creative solutions within legal frameworks and with the support of other country/division HR teams in a matrix organization are required.
- The incumbent has a good understanding of labor law and is used to build on a trustful cooperation with works council.
- The incumbent brings along a good balance between a sound strategic & operational mindset combined with a high focus on results. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and customer service skills with organizational, planning and problem solving capability are required.
- Fluency in German as well as in English are a must, further knowledge in an additional language (French) would be an asset.
He/she is a strong leader with a hands on, “can do” attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to lead, manage and develop a heterogeneous team.
